Budget Tick Control That Worked This Summer

Budget Tick Control That Worked This Summer
[2025]

This summer I faced a tick problem with many of the stray dogs I help. With limited resources, I tried a simple method — and to my surprise, it really helped.

What I Did:

  1. Mixed Sevin powder + baby powder in a 1:3 ratio.
  2. Applied only small amounts, on ears & back of the neck (places dogs can’t lick).
  3. Did it only when I saw ticks (about once every week).
  4. Always outdoors, on healthy adult strays.

What Happened:

  • Fewer ticks overall — dogs scratched less and seemed more comfortable.
  • Swelling or irritation reduced in treated dogs.
  • Low cost, easy to maintain even with several dogs.

What I Learned:

  • Consistency matters more than treating often.
  • Gentle application (tiny amounts) is safer.
  • Observing dogs’ behavior tells you when it’s needed.

If you help strays, I hope this method is helpful. If you use it, always watch carefully and consider vet options when possible.
