The New Boy ๐พ๐
When I first saw this boy, it was during a heatwave back in August. He looked tired and very thirsty. I went to check on him and gave him some fresh, cold water โ he drank it all, though he wasnโt hungry.
After that, I started to notice a pattern. Every Thursday, he would show up to play with the other dogs. At first, not all of them welcomed him โ heโs a big, strong boy, but very gentle and soft-hearted. Slowly, I began to see him resting peacefully near some of them, sleeping side by side.
As weeks passed, he started visiting more often. Sometimes, Iโd see him from the window playing happily with the pack, but the moment I went downstairs, jealousy began โ the others would growl as if saying, โThatโs our human, donโt come close!โ
He always looked so confused, like he just wanted to say hello.
So my husband and I started playing with him in front of them to show that heโs part of the family too. We realized he had a habit of playful biting โ something weโre gently helping him unlearn with treats and patience.
Last weekend, after a few days of not seeing him, he suddenly appeared again โ this time sitting calmly with my dogs. It was such a relief. But when we got closer, our youngest female got jealous and growled at him. We gently corrected her, telling her thatโs not kind, that heโs her friend. While we were teaching her, something beautiful happened โ her mother walked over and started grooming him with her teeth, as if to say, โYou belong here too.โ
We donโt see him every day, but whenever we do, we make sure heโs full, safe, and always welcomed.
