A New Chance for a Brave Mama 🐾

A New Chance for a Brave Mama 🐾

This sweet mama dog lives in the garage of a nearby building, kindly looked after by the doorman and his little son. In August, she gave birth right outside the building. We began visiting regularly to feed her kibble — which she absolutely loved — while others in the neighbourhood also offered her food.

But not everyone agreed with feeding the dogs. Some people were unhappy about leftovers being given to them. We tried to stay focused on what mattered most: keeping the mama and her puppies healthy.

Two months later, when she stopped breastfeeding, we arrived one day and found only the mother — the puppies were gone. My heart dropped. The doorman explained that a neighbour had taken them away in his car. We did our best to search and ask, but we couldn’t find where they were taken.

So, we made a decision: to get her spayed so this would never happen again — no more unwanted litters, no more fear for her babies’ safety.

The day she came back from the clinic, safe and recovering, a woman approached me, worried and asking if the mama was okay. I explained the situation about her puppies and the spay surgery. Then she told me something that lifted a heavy weight off my heart:

Her husband was the one who took the puppies — and he didn’t abandon them.
He waited until they were old enough and personally brought them to a local shelter where they are safe and cared for.

She smiled knowing the mama wouldn’t have to endure that stress again. And so did I.

Now, this brave mother is spayed, vaccinated, and protected.
No more fear.
No more heartbreak.
Only a healthier and happier future. 💛🐾
