Budget Tick Control That Worked This Summer
[2025]
This summer I faced a tick problem with many of the stray dogs I help. With limited resources, I tried a simple method — and to my surprise, it really helped.
What I Did:
- Mixed Sevin powder + baby powder in a 1:3 ratio.
- Applied only small amounts, on ears & back of the neck (places dogs can’t lick).
- Did it only when I saw ticks (about once every week).
- Always outdoors, on healthy adult strays.
What Happened:
- Fewer ticks overall — dogs scratched less and seemed more comfortable.
- Swelling or irritation reduced in treated dogs.
- Low cost, easy to maintain even with several dogs.
What I Learned:
- Consistency matters more than treating often.
- Gentle application (tiny amounts) is safer.
- Observing dogs’ behavior tells you when it’s needed.
If you help strays, I hope this method is helpful. If you use it, always watch carefully and consider vet options when possible.
