Summer Heat, Rescue Hearts, and Community Bridges

The summer months always bring unique challenges to street care—from scorching heatwaves to increased parasite activity—but they also bring moments of profound connection. Over the past four months, we stayed dedicated to keeping full bowls, providing vital medical treatment, and stepping in for animals left with nowhere else to turn.
Here is what we accomplished together from May through August 2026:
🥣 Food Support & a Special Milestone
Keeping the street animals fed during the summer heat was essential. This quarter, we distributed 304 kg of kibble:
Dog Kibble: 178 kg
Cat Kibble: 126 kg
A Heartwarming Win: This summer brought a wonderful reminder of how empathy grows. A lovely neighbor who used to be afraid of dogs started donating 4 kg of dog kibble every month to support our feeding rounds. Moments like these prove that caring for animals gently changes hearts in the human community, too!
🩺 Medical Care & Summer Prevention
With the summer heat, parasite control and wound care were top priorities:
Anti-Parasitic Treatments: 14 dogs received their general anti-parasitic doses to stay safe from ticks and fleas.
Deworming: 2 cats were treated.
Seasonal Parasite Control: We provided a steady supply of Sevin powder throughout the summer months for 6 dogs under local care.
Injury Treatments:
Tommy received dedicated care after being bitten by another dog.
Bolt received treatment to clean and heal an inflammation around his ear tag.
🐾 Rescues & Safe Haven Updates
While our main focus is on-site care and TNR (with 1 dog sterilized this quarter), several emergency situations required immediate rescue and shelter transfers:
The Heatwave Puppies: During a brutal summer heatwave, 6 tiny, motherless puppies were abandoned nearby. Leaving them in the sweltering heat wasn’t an option—we safely rescued all 6 and transferred them to a trusted local shelter where they could thrive.
Coco: Abandoned by a breeder simply because one of his legs wasn’t “perfect,” Coco found safety with us before making his way to the shelter to begin his journey toward a loving family.
Bella: A sweet, lovely small-breed dog abandoned by her family. When she came to us, she was suffering from mange. After patiently treating her skin until she was fully healed, we safely transitioned her to the shelter alongside Coco.
